The feedback from our customers has been overwhelmingly positive on our new painted stainless steel dog tags! Andrew, our friend from Austin developed the designs for us and we began production on them in June. We will be coming up with some new designs in the near future but for now have been busy enough filling orders with these first designs.

These new dog ID tags are hand painted on the front and sealed with an epoxy dome to make them very durable while fashionable at the same time! For now we have them available in seven designs; Flower, Stars, Bone, Paw, Heart, “Good Girl” and “Good Boy”. We will custom engrave them of course with your choice of text and font. We’re setting a new trend in dog tags with these and having fun doing it!
Dog ID Name Plate Collars - Personalized Dog Collars
We are excited to announce that our new Name Plate Dog Collars with a built in custom engraved dog ID name plate are now in production. We began taking orders on them this week and so far the number of orders coming in has been more than we anticipated! From the comments we have been hearing from our customers so far, it sounds like many people out there have been looking for a collar like this for a long time. We’re sure glad we decided to start making them!
The collars themselves are made from soft yet extremely durable, colorfast braided polypropylene material. The brass hardware is corrosion resistant and very classy looking! The Name Plate Collars are available in two widths – 9/16″ for puppies and smaller dog breeds and 1″ width for medium to large dog breeds with several sizes and colors to choose from.
We custom engrave the name plate on these collars with your personal information in the font that you choose so you can personalize the engraving exactly to your liking! Best of all, no tags to install since the name plate ID is built right into the collar.

It’s 2009 and there are a lot of new technologies out there now to keep track of our dogs such as wireless devices, GPS and the most common technology, the microchip.
We at DogIDs.com strongly recommend microchipping your dog. It is a great way to ensure your contact info will always be with your best friend. However, please be sure not to depend on this means of dog identification solely. Dog ID tags and collars are still the most effective and cost effective way to make sure your dog is returned home safely if lost. Please keep in mind the following factors:
1. Microchips cannot be scanned at every vet clinic or animal shelter in North America and there are also different designs so a microchip that can be read at one vet clinic may not be readable at another.
2. People are much more apt to try contacting the dog’s family if there is an obviously visible identification tag on your dog. If the finders do not see a collar and tag, they may just assume your dog is stray and not feel compelled to help return him/her home.
3. Collars with dog ID tags are still the most convenient way for finders to determine your contact information. People are busy nowadays and sadly many people will not take the time to bring a lost dog into an animal shelter or vet clinic just to see if he/she is micropchipped.

Since Thanksgiving and winter are both right around the corner, we thought it would be appropriate to make our inaugural post based on these two times of year.
As you may or may not know, more dogs are lost during the winter months than any other time of the year and since the winter months are more harsh for any animal, there is even more reason to make sure your dog always wears a dog collar with a dog ID tag attached displaying your MOST CURRENT contact information just in case your best friend goes astray and can’t find his way back home.
Blowing snow and ice in the winter months can hinder a dog’s ability to pick up scent. Of course this will make it that much harder for a dog to find his way back home if he has managed to stray a little too far. And if you are making your travel plans for Thanksgiving, make absolutely sure your dog has his collar and dog ID tags on at least before leaving on your trip!
One other thing to keep in mind is how busy Thanksgiving can be and how many times the house doors open and shut, giving your dog more opportunities to wander outside and get away from all of the hustle and bustle. Make sure he always has proper dog identification on during this time of year!
